To prepare for the arrival of his new VR headset expected on February 22, Sony splits an “ultimate FAQ”.

If it dwells on many already known elements of PlayStation VR2 such as its technical sheet, it lets out other new information, both good and bad omen.

The PS VR2 will not run out of games…

Who says VR headset dedicated mainly to games, says that you need a catalog to try it out. In this sense, Sony has obviously not done in half measures. 52 games would be available from the release of PS VR2 on February 22. Among the latter, we note especially Horizon: Call of the Mountain, Walking Dead: Saints and Sinners 1 & 2, Tetris Effect And Ground Infinite.

The PS VR2, as a reminder exclusive to the PS5, will also host a virtual reality port of Resident Evil Village And Gran Turismo 7. All in all, 122 games are currently in development, including a port of one of the best VR games to date: Beat Saber.

Given the technical data sheet of the PS VR2, the gaming experience should be much more pleasant than on the first model, in particular thanks to a resolution practically doubled from 2,000 x 2,040 per eye, with support for 4K HDR up to at 120 Hz and an increased foveal field from 100 to 110 degrees.

The haptic feedback and the well-known adaptive triggers of the DualSense will also be a significant and immersive plus. The PS VR2 will also appeal to a wider audience thanks to an adjustable lens separation, something that the first PS VR of the name lacked.

… to compensate for the lack of compatibility

But these new features unfortunately have a price well and truly confirmed by this FAQ: the PS VR2 will absolutely not be compatible with PS VR games. Those with such games will unfortunately have to go through the purchase of a “next generation” upgrade, as is already possible to do on crossplatform games between the PS4 and PS5.

Moreover, in any case for the launch of the VR headset, most games will only be available in their digital version. Physical copies will exist for a few hand-picked titles, but at a later date.

The ground is in any case prepared on the side of Sony for the release of its famous PlayStation VR2 on February 22, at the price still raised by 599.99 euros. Will the stars be aligned so that 2 million copies are sold by March, as Sony recommends? The FAQ naturally does not provide an answer to this thorny question.
