The year is full of projects for one of the giants of the industry, Playstation. According to reliable sources, Sony is working on controllers “Pro” for its next-gen console. An addition that would not be refused, while the console will celebrate its two years this year. The DualSense, the famous haptic feedback controller will soon have a little sister, much more efficient however.
The arrival of the DualSense Pro?
The information comes to us straight from Tom Henderson, a reliable industry insider who has repeatedly announced the arrival of video game projects and/or various new features. This time, Henderson tells us that Sony is working on a “genuine pro controller” for the PS5, i.e. a Sony pro controller, which did not exist before. Until then, the only DualSense Pro controllers were produced by external companies.
Sport oriented and competitivethis brand new Pro controller would be developed in the offices of Sony under the code name “Hunting” (hunt). Supposedly in development for a long time, the new controller does not yet have a visual, at least Henderson has not revealed any. It is however possible to imagine it thanks to the little information revealed.
According to Henderson, the controller would keep its original shapes, but would have some new features such as replaceable stickstherefore the perfect solution to overcome the recurring problem of drift of joystick (when the stick moves by itself because too worn). Furthermore, pallets could be added to the back to facilitate access to the L2/R2 triggers. In order to facilitate the grip, the next DualSense would also be covered with a texture “grip”.
When will the controller be released?
Unfortunately, Henderson did not reveal a specific release date. The last State of Play dates back to June 2, and Sony made no mention of a new Pro Controller. However, it is possible that the Japanese company will announce new hardware in a few weeks, and therefore perhaps this new Pro controller.
So we should soon hear about “Hunting”. In addition, now that the leak has been revealed, it is very likely that the PlayStation teams will justify it very soon. To be continued…
