The PS5 welcomes a new update. It brings a whole bunch of new features, such as application-related features and the ability to store games in folders. Even more, it allows (finally!) to play on screens in 1440p.
The PS5 continues to improve with updates and the latest is out today, Wednesday September 7, 2022. It brings some welcome new features including a long-awaited feature: compatibility with 1440p displays.
The PS5 is compatible with 1080p and 4K monitors and televisions. If you wanted to play on your 1440p monitor, games would automatically switch to Full HD. After installing the update, the console can now display in this resolution. Great news for those who use their monitor to play. Be careful though, the 1440p mode does not support the Variable Refresh Rate (VRR). You have to do without.
The PS5 brings changes to its interface
Compatibility with 1440p screens is a big thing, but that’s not the only change in this update. It is now possible to Organize games by folders. Ideal for those who like everything to be tidy on their machine.
Other functionalities are appearing, in particular via the application which makes it possible to launch the Remote Play. Even more, it is possible to share the stream of your game on this same application. For example, one of your friends can show you his screen that you will see on your smartphone. Convenient for team play!

Finally, the update introduces a voice search for Youtube. Even in the middle of a game, it is possible to ask your console to find a video. However, this feature is still in beta and only reserved for English-speaking players.
Downloading this update couldn’t be simpler. Just turn on your console and it will get to work if you are connected to the internet. If this is not the case, a small tour in the downloads menu will unblock the situation. Installation, as usual, takes a few minutes.
