At the beginning of February, Sony published a blog post detailing new features available on PS5 for members of the beta program. Good news, everyone can now benefit from it thanks to a system update deployed since Wednesday March 13, 2024.

First of all, the new firmware of the DualSense and the DualSense Edge gives pride of place to audio. The Japanese firm explains that it has improved the quality of the speakers so that they produce “higher volume, allowing you to hear game sounds and voice chat more clearly”.

In addition, the noise cancellation of the microphone has been optimized thanks to a new model of machine learning. The microphone on the PS5 controllers thus manages to better attenuate the noise caused by button presses and the audio of the game in use, “which improves the voice chat experience”.

Sony is also evolving screen sharing by allowing viewers to interact with the player. They can move a pointer, send a ping or draw a line to “highlight certain objects or areas in order to guide the host player more precisely”, but also share reactions in the form of emoji in order to “to visually encourage and celebrate gaming actions”.

This update finally offers the possibility of adjusting the brightness of the PS5’s power LED. To do this, simply go to Settings > System > Sound and light signal > Brightness.
