PS5: Neil Druckmann discusses several games in development at Naughty Dog, a rumor goes into details

Naughty Dog is currently on all fronts. On the one hand, the first feature film from one of his games is about to be released in theaters. On the other hand, an ambitious TV series inspired by another of his licenses is currently filming. And in parallel to all this, the studio is currently preparing its video game future. But what does the latter correspond to? A rumor says more.

Neil Druckmann has just confirmed that Naughty Dog does indeed “multiple game projects“currently in development. As previously indicated, Sony held its traditional CES conference this week. During the latter, the news of the various branches of the Japanese giant was discussed.

Naughty Dog in force on PS5?

And among the various speakers of the event was Neil Druckmann, the co-president of Naughty Dog. In a pre-recorded video, Neil Druckmann promoted the movie Uncharted as well as the HBO series The Last of Us. But that’s not all. He ended his intervention by briefly mentioning the projects in development at Naughty Dog:

We can’t wait to share with you the multiple game projects we’re working on at Naughty Dog.

This remark only confirms what has been known for many months. Indeed, numerous job postings indicated that Naughty Dog had several games on the go for the PS5. In addition, Neil Druckmann himself has mentioned several times that his studio is currently working on several projects. And there is some evidence that one of them is a multiplayer game. Possibly the multiplayer experience linked to The Last of Us Part II.

Some of the “multiple game projects“already known?

Unfortunately for fans of the Californian studio, Neil Druckmann did not go into details. On the other hand, this is what Tom Henderson did. The insider, known for the reliability of his sources, took to Twitter about projects underway at Naughty Dog. According to him, a remake of The Last of Us could land this year on PS5:

Several people have told me that the remake of The Last of Us is almost done. And that it could be released in the second half of 2022.

I’ve also heard that The Last of Us Part II multiplayer and The Last of Us Part II Director’s Cut will also be released. But I don’t know exactly when / how. Dating them would be a good compromise if God of War (Ragnarök) were pushed back to Q1 2023. But that’s just speculation on my part.

I think the overall goal is to generate some hype for the HBO series. So we’ll see what will happen. And to be fair, Sony’s third and fourth quarters of 2022 are looking a little underwhelming at the moment. So we’ll see what will happen!

An exciting time is brewing!

Obviously, these are just rumors to be taken with a grain of salt for now. Tom Henderson’s sources are generally reliable, however. Moreover, the projects he evokes here correspond to previous rumors in the hallway. The The Last of Us license could therefore be at the heart of “multiple projects“from Naughty Dog. Now we have to wait for Sony to see fit to announce them.

What do you think of these rumors about Naughty Dog’s “multiple game plans”? Do you think releasing a remake of The Last of Us on PS5 is necessary? If all of the games mentioned above come out, which ones might interest you? Tell us all in the comments below.
