PS5: Sony would be working on the emulation of PS3 games

With its new PlayStation Plus, sony hopes to fill its catalog with titles released on PS4 and PS5, but also by drawing from the catalogs of slightly older consoles like the PS1 and PS2. The catalog PS3 is also present, at least in part, but it poses more problems for emulation, forcing the manufacturer to only make these games available via stream, and therefore cloud gaming. A constraint that worries many people, but which could soon be resolved if we are to believe the always very well informed Jeff Grubb.

Real emulation for the PS3 catalog?

The VentureBeat journalist spoke about this on his YouTube show, in which he states that Sony is currently working on a way to properly emulate PS3 games on PS5, and therefore be able to download them to play them:

Since I’ve been talking about it all week, I’ve researched, I’ve asked… it looks like Sony is working on emulation for PS3 on PS5. It may take time. I would like them to be clear and tell us. Let them tell us they care about that stuff because that’s what the PS Plus ad was missing…to me it felt like they didn’t care. ยป

This discussion of PS3 game emulation has been around for a while now, and we were hoping that the announcement of this new PS Plus might settle things. This will not be the case, at least not at the launch of the service, but according to the journalist, it is well underway at Sony. Fingers crossed that it really does happen.
