But while you’re probably more concerned with how practical your sorting is, it also reveals a part of your personality.

According to appearance: color, size or thickness
If you sort your books according to their appearance, it shows yours Sense of aesthetics. From A to Z
Those who place their books according to the alphabet prefer Structure and order. If this is the case, you feel safe. Conversely, a feeling of insecurity could arise. Very orderly people are generally reluctant to leave their comfort zone, but they score points for their reliability and sense of responsibility.
In ascending order by release or purchase date
Is your bookshelf organized by publication or purchase date? Then you probably have like a plan, good at setting priorities and work through your to-dos conscientiously in this order. In the same way, you also like to read your books in sorted data series. The big advantage: You can’t forget anything because you follow your own personal pattern.
One genre at a time
If your books are sorted by genre, that suggests one thing quick adaptability. You have something ready for every mood: Are you looking for action? This is this bunch. Would you prefer something romantic? You can find it here on the shelf. You’d rather be prepared than be thrown into the deep end.
No order at all
Of course, there are also those who don’t sort their books at all. You stack them randomly or put them on the shelf wherever there is room. Messy people can be more unreliable, but they don’t necessarily have to be. Above all, they are said to spontaneous and creative to be.
Most people follow one of these five sorting methods, but of course there are also mixed forms. If you have a stack of neatly organized books and one unsorted, your priorities are probably somewhere else. Conversely, do you have a lot of unorganized books, but slowly a stack with a system is added? Think about whether you are longing for a little more structure in your life.
