Public buildings encouraged to lower the temperature by one degree

Town halls, schools, and other French administrations and public services will be encouraged to “lower by one degree” the temperature of their interior heating, a measure which will be accompanied by a promotional campaign on “eco-gestures”, announced Wednesday the Minister of Ecological Transition.

We are launching an accelerated exit plan from hydrocarbons for State buildings, indicated Minister Barbara Pompili during the presentation by Prime Minister Jean Castex of the economic resilience plan linked to soaring energy prices and the war in Ukraine.

This action will be accompanied by the establishment of a fund which will finance work with a rapid impact on the reduction of gas and fuel consumption, in particular the replacement of fossil boilers with renewable solutions, she specified.

For the sake of setting an example, the Prime Minister will sign a circular in the coming days calling on all public services to reduce the heating temperature by one degree in order to save energy and reduce the bill, added Ms. Pompili.
