Punched through! Many fists, one goal: equality

When the IS terrorist group attacked the Sinjar region seven years ago, an unimaginable ordeal began for countless women and girls. Many women and girls have been mistreated, raped or enslaved. Those who were able to save themselves often found refuge in camps for displaced persons. There, the German aid organization CARE has been working with local partners for years to offer women and girls protection and to enable them to gain an education and lead an independent life. With this help, many women have already been able to set up their own small businesses and thus contribute to the maintenance of their families. Here they finally get a voice and the necessary self-confidence to stand up for themselves and their dreams.
