Push for tough sanctions: CSU wants to permanently cut off citizens’ money for those who refuse to do so

CSU wants to permanently cancel citizens’ money for those who refuse

With his announcement that citizens’ benefits would be temporarily canceled for those who refuse to work, Labor Minister Hubertus Heil is demonstrating toughness. The CSU is trying to distinguish itself as even tougher with its own proposal on the topic.

The CSU is calling for a massive tightening of sanctions for citizens’ benefit recipients who reject job offers. Citizens’ benefits must be completely canceled for those affected – and indefinitely, according to a draft resolution for the upcoming winter meeting of the CSU state group, from which the news portal t-online quoted. “There must be cuts in benefits as long as a recipient of citizen’s benefit refuses to accept reasonable work,” the proposal states.

Federal Labor Minister Hubertus Heil recently announced a tightening of sanctions against total objectors; According to the minister, the complete cancellation of citizens’ benefit payments should be limited to two months. While Finance Minister Christian Lindner and politicians from the SPD and Union welcomed the move, social associations, Jusos and the Left warned of severe social consequences.

For the CSU, however, Heil’s proposal does not go far enough. In the resolution paper, she calls for greater emphasis on the principle of “support and challenge”: “Anyone who works must have significantly more than someone who doesn’t work,” t-online quotes from the exam paper.

Another CSU proposal concerns making working hours more flexible. For this purpose, among other things, the statutory maximum working hours per day should be abolished, reports the portal, citing the draft resolution. Instead, there should be a maximum working time per week. “Overtime belongs in your wallet and not in your tax assessment,” says the CSU. The CSU winter retreat will take place from January 6th to 8th in the Bavarian Seeon Monastery.
