Putin’s Useful Idiots

Support from the West: Vladimir Putin can count on German intellectuals when it comes to securing his conquests.

German intellectuals call for a ceasefire in the Ukraine war and deny the difference between the aggressor and those who resist. That plays into the hands of those in power in the Kremlin. A guest post.

WWe now know that the Ukrainian army, backed by the non-military population to a degree incomprehensible to the authors of the ceasefire appeal published in Die Zeit on June 30, can defeat a vastly outnumbered aggressor. We know it procedurally, in ever new stages of information: Kyiv, Mykolaiv, sinking of the Moskva, Kharkiv, Snake Island. . .

The lie about the hopelessness of the resistance has been refuted again and again, and it therefore needs rhetorical corrections again and again. So now the appeal: After a cheap disclaimer about “Russia’s aggression in Ukraine”, the real speech follows: It is “the war” that must not continue, it is “the war” that “the parties” are waging against each other and Both sides have to be convinced of the end of it: a “frozen conflict”.
