Qualcomm will introduce the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1+ on May 20

After many rumors about a postponed announcement, Qualcomm silenced them by sharing the invitation to its conference on the Weibo social network. This will take place on May 20 in China. The opportunity for the American company to finally lift the veil on its next high-end chip and formalize (perhaps) the name change of its slightly slower SoCs.

The visual shared on Weibo does not indicate anything more. It is almost certain that the 8 Gen 1+ platform will be announced at this event, but it is rumored that the mid-range processors could also benefit from a refresh. Series 7 could even change its name to adopt that of its big sister. After Gen 8 Gen 1, 7 Gen 1 could become a reality.

The Snapdragon 8 Gen 1+ would be engraved in 4 nm and could only be a minor evolution of the 8 Gen 1, from which it would take up the structure: a Cortex-X2, three Cortex-710 and four Cortex-A510. Let’s just hope that the founder will have found a solution to energy management in order to offer better performance and improved autonomy to smartphones that will be equipped with it. According to GSMArena, Motorola would be the first to trust the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1+, since the latter could appear in the future Edge X30. Regarding the potential Snapdragon 7 Gen 1, it should be integrated into the Oppo Reno 8, the announcement of which is looming for May 23.
