Jean-Luc Mélenchon’s support for Adrien Quatennens on Sunday in a tweet marks a tipping point within rebellious France. For the first time in the history of the party, the word of “JLM” is no longer sacred. Normally, the rebellious leader’s Twitter messages are taken up by all his followers, but there, radio silence.
“It’s normal for there to be anger, tension”
Worse still, internally, the feminist fringe imposes another communication, because the rebellious new generation does not support the support of Jean-Luc Mélenchon to Adrien Quatennens without a single word for the victim, like Clémentine Autain who hides her anger with difficulty: ” It’s normal that there is anger, tension, it’s logical. We want this violence to stop, “said the MP.
A breaking point within LFI?
The hitherto uncontested authority of Jean-Luc Mélenchon is undermined. The rebellious MP Pascale Martin even denounces an “insufficient and untenable” position. Meeting in a select committee on Monday evening, some deputies describe this event as a break in cohesion in a party accustomed to discipline.
Faced with the statements of the rebellious leader, Elisabeth Borne said she was shocked by this trivialization of domestic violence, but not surprised by the excess of Jean-Luc Mélenchon.
