Queen Camilla (76) traveled to London to attend an appointment this Tuesday (August 29) that seemed to be very important to her. The literature lover attended primary school for a reason: “The Queen met children and grandparents for a ‘Poetry Together Recital’ and tea party at Fielding Primary School in London,” it says in an Instagram post the Royal Family.

The ‘Poetry Together’ initiative is the brainchild of Gyles Brandreth (75) and supports schoolchildren and older people memorizing poetry together before meeting for a cup of tea and a piece of cake and reciting it. “Over 800 care homes and schools from across the UK have taken part since its inception, and last year schools in Greece, Romania, the United Arab Emirates, Nigeria and the US also took part,” reads the post about the initiative.

Colorful and radiant

For the performance, which saw the Queen go solo for the first time this summer, Camilla wore a long-sleeved midi dress with a striking peacock feather print in shades of blue, green and amber. She paired it with gold jewelry, including a pair of statement earrings in the shape of a fish. In several pictures of her visit, the 76-year-old can be seen in a good mood and beaming. She clapped for the lectures on stage, presented certificates and also cut a cake for the meeting. She also opened a new school library at Fielding Primary School.

Queen Camilla and King Charles III are currently enjoying (74) actually spend their summer vacation in Balmoral, Scotland. Another sad date is coming up next month: September 8th marks the anniversary of the death of Queen Elizabeth II (1926-2022). The King and Queen are expected to spend Memorial Day in private and no public or private family gatherings are planned.
