Because of King Charles III’s cancer. (75) and Princess Kate’s (42) recovery after her abdominal surgery, Queen Camilla (76) has attended more and more public appointments and represented the Royal Family in recent weeks. Now the monarch’s wife apparently needs a break.

A week off for Camilla

As the British newspaper “The Sunday Times” reports, Camilla’s appointment calendar will be empty in the coming days. Accordingly, the 76-year-old has no appointments and will apparently rest in private for a few days.

Her next performance is on March 11th. She is expected to represent her husband once again and lead the Royal Family at the Commonwealth Day service in Westminster Abbey.

13 appointments in the last few weeks

Since the palace made Charles’ cancer diagnosis public on February 5, Camilla has attended a total of 13 public appointments, including several appearances at which Charles should have been present. She is currently the highest-ranking member of the British royal family to make public appearances. Last week she attended a memorial service for Constantine of Greece (1940-2023) in Windsor and then held a reception for hundreds of guests. On Thursday she met the Ukrainian president’s wife, Olena Zelenska (46), at Clarence House.

According to an insider quoted by The Sunday Times, Camilla is ready for anything: “Even though she didn’t expect to find herself in the role of leader of the family, the Queen is definitely prepared to do anything must be done for the institution.”

The source said the public’s positive reaction has buoyed Camilla: “She has found reserves of energy that she didn’t think she had, and the respect she has in the palace has increased since she took the plunge has laid.”
