Queen Camilla welcomed film star Dame Judi Dench to her literary festival. In the beginning, however, the king had to represent his wife.

Queen Camilla (75) arrived with a slight delay for the start of her literary festival “Queen’s Reading Room Festival” on Sunday at the historic Hampton Court Palace. Highway traffic was to blame. As “Mail Online “reports furtherBuckingham Palace said Her Majesty had been held up by “weather related transport problems”.

So that the one-day event could start on time none other than her husband, King Charles III, jumped. (74), at the reception for her and greeted the guests. Camilla’s company car drove up just in time to greet the main character of the evening, Dame Judi Dench (88). The actress spoke at the event about her lifelong passion for Shakespeare.

Camilla wore an elegant royal blue jumpsuit by Anna Valentine for the occasion. Charles, too, looked elegant in his navy blue pinstripe suit.

Queen’s Reading Room Initiative

The festival builds on the success of Camilla’s Book Club, which launched in 2021 and on Instagram now has more than 165,000 followers. The book club has given rise to The Queen’s Reading Room, a charity aiming to promote the appreciation of literature among adults and children in the UK and around the world.
