Queen Elizabeth II: Back at Buckingham Palace this year

The Queen can look forward to eventful weeks. From Balmoral via Sandringham and Windsor it should also go back to Buckingham Palace.

For around a month, Queen Elizabeth II (94) and Prince Consort Philip (99) have been on their annual vacation at their summer residence, Balmoral Castle in Scotland. So far it has not been clear how long the monarch and her husband will stay there and where it will be for them afterwards. A spokesman for Buckingham Palace has now given "The Telegraph" information about how things will go for the Queen in the coming months.

Accordingly, she and Prince Philip will turn their backs on Scotland in the week from September 14th and travel to the country estate Sandringham House. The monarch usually only spends Christmas here, so this year she's paying a visit to the county of Norfolk much earlier than usual.

With or without Prince Philip?

From next October, according to the palace spokesman, the Queen will first go back to Windsor Castle. There she and her prince consort had been largely in isolation since the beginning of the corona pandemic. It is possible that Prince Philip, who retired in 2017, will stay in Sandringham and only the Queen will leave for Windsor – there are no final plans for this yet.

However, in another important matter: The Queen will sporadically return to Buckingham Palace from autumn, the report says. There she wants to receive "selected guests" and fulfill various obligations. It would be the first time since March that she has set foot in her official residence again. Accordingly, they want to "keep these plans under observation and, of course, subject them to all relevant consultations and suggestions."
