The horse races began in Ascot on Tuesday – but permanent guest Queen Elizabeth II was missing. Will she miss the rest of the races too?

On Tuesday (June 15) another horse race took place in Ascot, England – but the event had to do without its most prominent permanent guest. Because Queen Elizabeth II (95) followed the sporting event this time on her television at Windsor Castle and not live on site. Her horse King’s Lynn took part in the spectacle and took seventh place. But even though she missed the opening race, said her horse racing advisor John Warren in an interview with BBC Radio 4, that the monarch may still appear at the racetrack in the course of the week.

The Queen is “fanatical about horse racing”

“Of course the Queen would like to attend, as you know, she is fanatical about horse racing and horse breeding and has been to Ascot all of her adult life,” said Warren. It is currently planned to wait and see if she can set up a visit at the end of the week. After all, it is “a shame to miss such an event,” said the horse expert.

Warren also praised the 95-year-old’s energy: “It’s remarkable. The Queen’s energy levels are incredible.” Last week, the Queen traveled to the G7 Summit in St Ives, Cornwall, and, according to Warren, made the long journey home by train in the middle of the night.
