The Queen is looking for a new employee. She wants to hire a gardener to look after the parks in Windsor.

Anyone who has always wanted to work in a castle now has the opportunity. Queen Elizabeth II (95) is looking for a new gardener. The salary is 19,500 pounds (about 23,000 euros) a year. According to an advertisement on the Buckingham Palace website The new employee at Windsor Castle will help “shape the future of gardens that thousands admire” and preserve “their unique history”.

The huge grounds certainly offer enough opportunities to develop: “When you join the gardening team, you are helping to ensure the highest standards for the grounds of Windsor Castle and the surrounding area.” A “spectacular backdrop for a historical building” has to be created through daily work.

An “extraordinary job”

It is a full-time position, “weekend work will be required on occasion,” the job ad says. It is true that there is no lavish salary. But the ad advertises that it offers work in a “team at the heart of a world-famous institution” and that the job in the royal household is “exceptional”.

We are looking for candidates with a “passion for horticulture combined with relevant experience and good knowledge of plant and lawn care”. In addition, the new employee needs a driver’s license.
