After a two-year break, Queen Elizabeth can finally celebrate the “Trooping the Color” parade with her family again. The celebrations are particularly emotional for the monarch this year, after all she is also celebrating her 70th jubilee.

For a long time it was unclear whether and in what form Queen Elizabeth, 96, would take part in this year’s “Trooping The Color” parade. But the monarch did not miss the special event and first beamed with her cousin Prince Edward, 86, from the balcony of Buckingham Palace before stepping out a second time to admire the Royal Air Force air show.

At this moment, Queen Elizabeth becomes emotional

Despite her walking stick and health problems, the queen seemed in a good mood and cheerful, but in the first few seconds when she entered the balcony with her cousin and took the salute, she became visibly emotional. She surreptitiously wiped a small tear from the corner of her eye with her thumb before continuing to beam at the crowd. They are tears of joy and emotion, after all, the 96-year-old was cheered by thousands of onlookers for her long tenure on the throne.

Queen Elizabeth was born this year by her son Prince Charles, 73, and his wife Duchess Camilla, 74, and Prince Edward, 58, Countess Sophie of Wessex, 57, Lady Louise Windsor, 17, James, Viscount Severn, 14, Princess Anne , 71, Timothy Laurence, 67, Prince William, 39, Duchess Catherine, 40, Prince Richard, 77, Birgitte, Duchess of Gloucester, 75, Princess Alexandra, 85, and Prince Edward, 86. A special highlight, however, were Prince George, 8, Princess Charlotte, 7, and Prince Louis, 4, who also waved to the crowd on the balcony.
