Queen Silvia comments on granddaughter Leonore’s accident

Princess Leonore is treated in a hospital after her accident.

Shortly before a planned appearance in her native Sweden, it was announced that Princess Madeleine had to stay in Florida. Her daughter, Princess Leonore, was in an accident. Now Queen Silvia expresses herself.

A few weeks ago, the Swedish royal family announced that Princess Madeleine, 40, with her husband Chris O’Neill, 48, and their three children Princess Leonore, 9, Prince Nicolas, 7, and Princess Adrienne, 5, in August 2023 from Florida will move back to their home country. As a taste of that, Madeleine should have attended a childhood event in Stockholm on Wednesday, May 10, 2023. A magazine was already sure that the princess had landed in Sweden. This message has now been corrected: Madeleine had to cancel the event due to an upcoming operation on her daughter Leonore.

Princess Leonore: She needs an operation

In a message on the official website of the charity organization Childhood read: “However, we have received word that Princess Madeleine has canceled her trip to Sweden […]. The reason is that Princess Leonore stumbled, broke her arm and is waiting for an operation.” Leonore is wished a speedy recovery.

The charity gala still took place as planned – with Queen Silvia, 79. She had registered for the event anyway, after all she founded the organization herself. She also got an update about her daughter and granddaughter. “Yes, it was very unfortunate. She fell and broke her elbow, so an operation is necessary. And it’s very sad,” she told “Expressen” about Leonore’s accident.

Madeleine “did everything she could to get here,” added Silvia. “At the same time, she also knew that she had to be with her little daughter during the operation. I think everyone understands that, but of course it’s not easy. It’s not easy for little Leonore, who is only eight years old [Leonore ist neun, da hat sich die Oma vertan, Anmerkung der Redaktion]and it’s not easy for the parents.”

Princess Madeleine cancels event in Sweden

The magazine “Svensk Damtidning” originally wanted to know that the younger sister of Crown Princess Victoria, 45, has already landed on Swedish soil. The reason for the planned return was a very special one: A big party on Wednesday, May 10th, is intended to mark the early start of the celebrations surrounding Queen Silvia’s 80th birthday this year. The event of the charity organization Childhood is to take place in the Stockholm amusement park Gröna Lund and will be organized by Princess Madeleine and her friends.

“The Beginning of Her Big Comeback”

Royal house expert Ellen Myrgård Lindén considered this event to be the beginning of a great return: “This is the beginning of Madeleine’s great comeback on Swedish soil,” she was certain. “A taste of what August will be like when she and Chris O’Neill move here for good.” But now it will probably be a while before royal fans see Princess Madeleine again in their home country of Sweden.
