Quiet, inexpensive and energy-saving mini PC: The Geekom Mini IT8 at a glance

The features of the Geekom Mini IT8 convinced us in the test: Windows 11 Pro is preinstalled, the RAM is 16 GB and a 512 GB SSD offers plenty of space for your data in addition to the OS. In addition to a LAN connection (1,000 MBit/s), WLAN (Wi-Fi 5) is also on board, there are three USB 3.2 Gen2 Type A ports and two USB 3.2 Gen2 Type C ports. Ports are also available. There is also an HDMI 2.0 output and a mini display port 1.4 to connect multiple monitors.

The Intel Core i5-8250U with four cores and clock speeds of 2.3 to 3.8 GHz ensures good performance. Office work and 4K video streaming are possible without any problems, but unfortunately no gaming: The graphics power is clearly limited by only one internal Intel Iris Plus 655 graphics solution.

The fan of the Geekom Mini IT8 is pleasantly quiet at all times. The energy consumption is very efficient: If the system is really challenged, the power consumption is a low 62.9 watts.

Our conclusion at the time of testing:

“The compact mini PC Geekom Mini IT8 cuts a very good figure in the test and at an extremely fair price. The comparatively powerful equipment includes, for example, 16 GB of RAM, a card reader and a pre-installed Windows 11 Pro. The Intel provides the performance -Processor i5-8259U. The graphics performance is limited by the onboard graphics solution. However, video streaming and working with Office documents are not a problem. The fan usually remains very quiet and the power consumption is also pleasingly low.”
