A few days after the discovery of five lifeless bodies in an apartment in Meaux and the arrest of the father, suspected of being the author of the murder, the psychological profile of the latter is taking shape. Described as lonely by his neighbors, he suffers from psychotic disorders and had already injured his partner in 2019.

Two days after the discovery of five bodies, including four children, in an apartment in Meaux, the investigation continues and the first elements are revealed around the father of the family, suspected of being the murderer. Described by his neighbors as a loner, “a recluse”, the man now placed in police custody did not hesitate to talk about his discomfort and his depression.

The Meaux prosecutor paints the portrait of a father who has suffered from psychotic disorders for a long time. “We note the presence of medical and administrative documents that could suggest psychiatric internment in 2017 of the father of the family, as well as medical prescriptions prescribing tranquilizers,” he explained during a press conference organized this Tuesday.

A stabbing of his partner in 2019

Although the suspect’s criminal record is clean, the man is nevertheless well known to the police for domestic violence. In 2019, he stabbed his pregnant wife in the back. “The blow went away on its own,” he said then, confident of loving his wife whom he had known since high school. The latter decided not to file a complaint at the time, but instead informed the authorities that her companion was no longer taking the medical treatment he had been prescribed.

An investigation is then opened, but dismissed for deficient mental state, according to the established formula. He was hospitalized for a few months in a psychiatric ward and since then, no notable facts had been reported to the police until the Christmas tragedy.
