What have we all done to God?, released last Wednesday, is the sequel to What have we done to God? (2014) and What have we done to God again? (2019). Two comedies which have accumulated more than 18 million admissions (12.4 million admissions for the first and 6.7 million for the second)!
The film has become a phenomenon, including internationally:”In Africa, the Maghreb, Lebanon, Uruguay, Japan… The film made people laugh”, says Philippe de Chauveron in the film’s press kit. “And in Germany “Monsieur Claude” has become an expression to describe a Frenchman! So, obviously, when the first two films joined the Top 100 of the biggest successes in the history of cinema in France, we know that we will struggle to reach the same scores but that does not cut the wings, on the contrary !“
Beyond the commercial successes of the two previous parts, director Philippe de Chauveron explains that he wanted to find the actors of the saga. “After the second part, this desire was so palpable that we thought we wouldn’t wait too long to find each other again. And since it’s not easy to bring together so many actors who are so busy, we even arranged our diaries to agree on shooting dates for the third before getting down to writing the screenplay.”
