Rachel Legrain-Trapani (Pékin Express): what she learned to “hide” over time

Accompanied by her companion, the model Valentin Léonard, Miss France 2007 is one of the celebrities still in the running on the roads of Sri Lanka in Beijing Express, broadcast on M6 at 9:10 p.m.

Knowing that it can bring closer as disrupt a couple, have you hesitated to compete in Beijing Express with Valentine?

RACHEL LEGRAIN-TRAPANI: Not at all. When he was offered to me, I immediately asked if I could go with him. We share a lot of things, we work together, so I found it natural. In life, I have a very “peaceful” temperament, very cool. I’m not a daredevil and I’m always a little afraid of hurting myself. The fact that he was there made me step out of my comfort zone. For me, it was the ideal combination of yin and yang.

Do you understand, however, that viewers may have been annoyed by Valentin’s attitude deemed too directive towards you in the program?

You have to put things in perspective. The reviews come from Twitter, a place where not all of the nice stuff is written. And then in Beijing Express,we are the only couple, therefore the only ones to argue over a yes or a no. In addition, people do not realize the stress to which this exposes us: we sleep little and not well, we do not eat much and we never know what will happen to us the next day.

What unsuspected qualities has this game revealed in you?

I surpassed myself in the sense that I went to the end of my strength. I was amazed at my physical and psychological abilities. I have always kept a cool head. But what matters most in Beijing Express, it is the mind and the rage to win. If we go all the way, it doesn’t work…

Your status as influencers means that you and Valentin are regularly the target of criticism on social networks. Have you ever wanted to leave them?

In fact, there is a maximum of 1% or 2% negative feedback. There are days when I’m not going to be well and it’s going to affect me more. But generally, I know how to hide them. I have been a public figure since 2006, my love life has since been exposed, even overexposed, and I am better equipped than at 18 to react. I drew strength from it and it is now part of my personality.
