Racism at McDonald's ?: Black ex-franchisees sue

Does McDonald's have a racism problem in the US? If there are more than 50 black ex-franchisees, the fast food chain has one. They complain and point out, for example, that the group urged them to open their branches in poor areas.

More than 50 black ex-franchisees accuse the fast food company McDonald's of racism. They are now filing "systematic discrimination" lawsuits in federal court in Chicago based on their skin color. The complaint states: "McDonald's has deliberately and covertly withheld from plaintiffs the rights enjoyed by white franchisees."

According to the lawsuit, McDonald's is deliberately pushing black franchisees to open branches in poor areas with lower sales and higher insurance and security costs.

The fast food giant "categorically" rejected the allegation. "These allegations are a total contradiction to everything that we stand for," said the company on Tuesday.
