“Radioactive Tsunami” possible?
North Korea: Nuclear underwater drone tested again

North Korea repeatedly provokes tests of newly developed weapons. Now the foreclosed country wants to have tested a nuclear underwater drone again. It is the second attempt of this kind within two weeks.

North Korea says it has tested another underwater nuclear drone. The “Haeil-2” drone “covered a simulated underwater distance of 1,000 kilometers,” reported the state news agency KCNA. The test took place from April 4th to 7th. The warhead detonated as planned.

North Korea said it had tested a nuclear underwater attack drone for the first time a good two weeks ago. The new weapon could trigger a “radioactive tsunami” and destroy ships and ports, KCNA reported at the time.

The military tensions on the Korean peninsula have recently increased drastically. The communist leadership in Pyongyang has repeatedly threatened a military escalation in the region. North Korea conducted a record number of weapons tests last year.

In the face of North Korea’s ongoing provocations, South Korea and the United States have increased their defense cooperation. On Wednesday, the air forces of both countries held a joint exercise. According to Seoul, a US B-52H bomber, which can be equipped with nuclear warheads, was also involved in the maneuver.
