Rainer Langhans and Uschi Obermaier haven’t spoken to each other since 2007. Until now: Obermaier apparently wants to reconcile.

Rainer Langhans (80) and Uschi Obermaier (74) were the dream couple of the 1968 movement. After disputes 14 years ago, the two have not spoken a word to each other since then. Until now. After Langhans announced his cancer in October 2020, Obermaier has now contacted him and apparently wants to reconcile.

“Uschi wrote me an email from Portugal. She wants to be reconciled, to make peace. I’m really happy about that”, said the 80-year-old the “Bild” newspaper. She understood that she no longer had to hate him. Apparently a real surprise for Langhans: “I would never have expected it again, after everything that has happened.”

“Beautiful love story”

Langhans and Obermaier lived together in “Kommune I” in Berlin at the end of the 1960s and were at times a couple. After their separation in 1976, they had a “loose friendship”. In 2007, however, a dispute broke out: “When Uschi shot her film ‘Das wilde Leben’ in 2007, I wasn’t allowed to go to the set. And also not be a consultant as discussed. In our last phone calls, she only screamed,” explained Langhans.

Today Obermaier seems to have left past disputes behind him: “Uschi wrote to me that she will remember our time as a wonderful love story. I am very happy because I have always done that.”

“Aggressive and Incurable”

Langhans has had prostate cancer since summer 2020. This is “aggressive and incurable,” said the 80-year-old opposite the “image”. In November 2020, he later announced that the cancer had spread. Doctors found small tumors on the hip, collarbone, lumbar vertebrae and costal arch. Since then, Langhans has been undergoing hormone therapy. So far, he has refused chemotherapy.
