Lhe RATP rewards bus drivers who…stay at their post. In crisis for many weeks, with a high rate of absenteeism and a shortage of drivers, the Régie des transports parisiens is looking for solutions.
It therefore pays up to 450 euros in premium for those who will stay three months without presenting an absence, excluding holidays. An evolving premium: 100 euros the first month, 150 the second, 200 the third. On the other hand, at the slightest absence, the counter will be reset. A system implemented since mid-October, but retroactive to 1er October, according to The Parisian.
If the RATP comes to offer money against absenteeism, it is because the management has been mired in a crisis since the start of the school year. In September, a quarter of the services could not be provided, that is to say more than 1,000 buses per day which did not fulfill their offices, recalls the daily. A crisis which began at the beginning of August, when the working conditions were adapted to prepare the RATP for the competition, scheduled for 2025.

A “primette” according to the unions
This announcement does not calm the unions. “We are fighting for our wages and for our working conditions not to be sacrificed for opening up to competition. Not for a primette that jumps if you have an accident at work or are attacked, ” castigates Hani Labidi, FO delegate to the bus department. “This is only a meager compensation, which is not up to the violent deterioration of working conditions that has occurred recently”, abounds Grégory Thomas, of the South union.
Some 16,000 drivers are affected by this bonus. The device, on trial, could be extended for a maximum of three months, warns the management of the RATP.
