Ravenbound: The open world roguelite presents its fantasy universe

Headed by the Systemic Reaction studio, a company that belongs to the Avalanche group (Just Cause), Ravenbound is a new open-world roguelite. First on the run and then made official during the Gamescom period, the title took advantage of this week’s PC Gaming Show 2023 Preview mini-conference to remind people of its existence. Absolutely nothing new since it is exactly the same trailer released when it was made official, scene by scene, pixel by pixel. But like the PC Gaming Show, we too are two months behind on the game’s coverage, the opportunity to summarize what we know about the title.

Open-world roguelite

Developed by the same studio that offered us the very average Generation Zero and Second Extinction, Ravenbound translates into an action and roguelite game, all in a fantasy-tinged open world. You are thus the Raventhe bearer of an ancient power, a vessel forged by ancient gods who wish to slay the Betrayer, the ultimate goal of the adventure.

But it’s not going to be done so easily: the Gods have thus ensured that their weapon can be transferred from one body to another to go further and further in its quest. Perfect for introducing roguelite mechanics, where death will be frequent, and will make you start over in the shoes of a new warrior, while still keeping a certain expertise from one life to another.

Everything takes place in the world Ávalt, an open world fantasy, which adds a touch of Nordic folklore. The crow is a primary symbol, but there are also undead Draugrs, Gulders and other trolls. In this world, it will be necessary to collect resources and ensure its survival, in particular with the help of a deck construction system. It’s up to you to choose the right cards.

For the moment, Ravenbound doesn’t have a release date but should arrive” shortly if we are to believe the Steam page, the only confirmed platform at the moment.
