Razer DeathStalker V2 Pro REVIEW: The perfect keyboard now has a name

The keyboard Deathstalker original, then its version chromehad known how to seduce the world thanks to touches chiclet which offered excellent typing quality and a sober and low profile. Razer has therefore decided to update this range by keeping the initial concept, but by including the brand’s latest technologies, including switches optics and above all a multiple and fast wireless connection. For our test, we had in hand the DeathStalker V2 Pro model sold at €249.99, on the official website of Razer. Is it worth its price? Answer in this test.

The Razer DeathStalker V2 Pro is, to date, the most impressive keyboard that we have had the opportunity to test technically and physically.

The first things that jump out at you when you take the Deathstalker V2 Pro its box is its finesse, its sleek design and despite the presence of 105 keys, its very small size. The keyboard is built around a very rigid aluminum frame, its matte black plastic coating is of excellent quality and absolutely does not keep fingerprints. The logo Razer is printed in gloss on the bottom of the keyboard and it looks very good. The latter offers a standard key layout with the usual exception for the key constructor fn which is to the right of the spacebar, not the left. The five information LEDs (caps lock, active numeric keypad, macro mode, etc.) are in the middle of the keyboard, just above the arrow keys and not at the top as is often the case.

This makes peeking effortless and it’s a small detail that we really appreciated. At the top right, there is a multimedia button and a volume control wheel which are also very stylish. On the underside of the keyboard, the non-slip pads are extremely effective even when using the two retractable feet (two heights) allowing it to be raised a little. Finally, the connection is limited to a USB Type-C port to connect the cable going to the PC in case of wired use, a button to choose the connection mode (Bluetooth 5.0, HyperSpeed Wireless 2.4 GHz or wired) and three buttons for connecting to as many different devices without having to re-pair them.

Razer Deathstalker V2 Pro 20 1As for the keys, there has been a lot of work on the part of the manufacturer and they are particularly fine. Their ultra-resistant ABS design leaves no doubt as to the durability of the markings and Razer announces no less than 70 million clicks as a lifespan for its switches optical low profile. The typing is really soft and allows absolute fluidity when entering text. The absence of noise when pressing a key is pleasant, but it is above all the responsiveness of the keys that impressed us as touching one is enough for the typed character to be sent. Bonus, via Synapse (the control center Razer), it is possible to assign functionality to almost any key on the keyboard. This ranges from a macro to the launch of a website through that of a program. Very easy to use, very useful, we really liked this possibility.

The backlight RGB (16.7 million colors) can be controlled via various key combinations on the keyboard or via software Synapse. All the usual options are present, including color synchronization with other brand accessories (mouse, mat, etc.). The brightness offered is sufficient to do the job without turning your office into a nightclub.

Gamers will appreciate the responsiveness of the Razer Deathstalker V2 Pro, while “writers” will rather appreciate its typing comfort.

Razer Deathstalker V2 Pro 18 1The other big novelty of the Deathstalker V2 Pro is its wireless connection called Razer HyperSpeed Wireless. Behind this pretty name hides a technology offering, to date, the best in terms of wireless connection. It prevents the connection signal between the keyboard and the PC from encountering interference by choosing free channels. This makes it possible to have a latency equivalent to that offered in wired mode. Impressive. Note that only one dongle allows you to connect several compatible peripherals of the brand at the same time (such as the mouse DeathAdder V3 Profor example). The Deathstalker V2 Pro also allows you to connect to devices via Bluetooth 5.0. Ideal for connecting to a SmartTV, a tablet, a TV box, a portable Windows console or even a smartphone. If your device supports low latency in BT, then you will be in possession of an ideal companion for your various devices. For once, Razer made simple, because there are three profile buttons that allow you to change devices with a single click on one of them without having to redo the pairing sequence each time. Concretely, it has never been easier to move with your keyboard. Note, it has an autonomy of about forty hours when it is not connected to its wire.

Its minimalist height allows use without wrist rests even during prolonged sessions and this is a significant plus. The association with Synapse makes it easy to manage the different lighting modes RGBbut also the redefinition of keys and macros. The icing on the cake, all these points are directly manageable via numerous key combinations and the onboard memory allows you to save and use several profiles without being connected to your account.
