Razer unveils Viper V2 Pro, new gaming mouse weighing just 58g

The trend is for ultralightness in the small world of mice gaming, but Razer has so far only offered little or no real featherweight except for the Viper Mini whose compact format allowed it to display 61 g on the scale. The excellent Basilisk V3 – the latest arrival of the Basilisks – weighs, for example, 102 g, which is not always practical for fans of large movements on the mat.

A real featherweight

With its new Viper V2 Pro, Razer takes up the design of the Viper 8KHz and Ultimate, but this time with a much lighter weight, even less heavy than the Viper Mini: barely 58 g. It thus definitely enters the category of ultralight mice without being displayed with a “holey” honeycomb shell as with certain competing brands. For a wireless model, this is a great feat, as these are generally heavier than their wired counterparts. The manufacturer has however sacrificed the buttons on the right edge and the Viper is therefore no longer ambidextrous.

Always more precision and efficiency

Apart from the weight, Razer has covered the mouse with more or less important new technologies. There will be a Focus Pro 30K optical sensor, a priori even more precise, but it must be admitted that this will not change much for ordinary mortals as the sensors are now efficient. The life of the main buttons also increases to 90 million clicks thanks to the brand’s third-generation optical switches. Charging will now be done with a USB-C cable and we obviously find Razer’s usual wireless connectivity with the HyperSpeed 2.4 GHz receiver which delivers almost non-existent latency.

The Viper V2 Pro is therefore a resolutely high-end mouse which is available today in white or black, at the recommended price of €159.99.
