The Razor brand recently unveiled a new electric scooter
with a design inspired by its classic A-kick model, released in the early 2000s. A wind of nostalgia is rising for this model brought up to date and adapted to the public who grew up with it and who have since become adults.

This is a solid and more easily transportable electric scooter that will bring back memories of getaways with friends for today’s 30-somethings.

A design that smells of the beginning of the millennium

Children of the early 2000s may remember their favorite means of transportation. Bike, rollerblades or skateboard. If you owned a scooter, there is a good chance that you had the Razor A-kick or a very equivalent model, in aluminum with its small rubber wheels that suffered the onslaught of rowdy rides. The Razor Icon is a modern but sober version of this classic scooter, with, of course, adjustments for greater riding comfort.

The 12-kilo Razor Icon will be equipped at the rear with a 300 W electric motor allowing it to go at a maximum speed of 30 km/h, unfortunately unattainable in cities where speed is regulated, such as in Paris. Its lithium-ion battery will, according to the brand, allow you to complete a total of 28 kilometers of racing on a single charge. This will of course depend on how you use it. In addition, the scooter has 3 driving modes: Normal, Economy and Sport.

In terms of comfort, the wheels with 8.5-inch airless tires will be much larger and stronger than the classic model. To brake, two options. Either the user presses the lever on the handlebar with his left thumb, or he uses the traditional pressure brake technique by pressing with his foot on the back. This action will trigger a headlight at the rear to warn of braking, and another LED headlight at the front can be activated from the handlebars.

Crowdfunding requested

It may seem strange for a company as well established as Razor, but the brand has launched a Kickstarter in which it asks for 22,654 euros. At the time these lines are written, almost 19,000 euros have already been collected with 27 days left in the campaign.

If we do not yet know the final price of the machine, people who gave $ 549 to the Kickstarter will be given a scooter in the color of their choice from a selection of five colors: black, orange, pink, red and blue. The Razor Icon is slated for release next August…only in the US for now. Sorry for the false hope.
