The death of the dialect musician and “Stiller Has” band member Endo Anaconda, whose real name is Andreas Flückiger, a formative figure in the Swiss music scene. On the night of Wednesday, February 2, he passed away after a short, serious illness.

There was a lot of interest on social media. Fans, colleagues and politicians said goodbye to the late musician. For example, comedian Victor Giacobbo writes on Twitter: “RIP Endo! Your power has always knocked everyone out, on stage, in the studio, on TV – and ultimately, sadly, yourself.” Giacobbo’s longtime stage partner Mike Müller also spoke up – but much more briefly. On Twitter he simply wrote the words “Endo RIP”. The author Sibylle Berg kept her message just as short. She simply wrote on Twitter: “Unfortunate. I.”

The cabaret artist Patti Basler also joined the words of farewell and said goodbye with the words “You weren’t stiller. You’re only now a quiet rabbit. And stay one of the greatest.”

Even the “SRF-Meteo” program said goodbye in a very original way in its main edition on Wednesday evening and paid tribute to the musician by providing the program with places from the Stiller Has song “Walliselle” on its weather map.

Anaconda, who had also appeared several times on the stage of the Bern Riding School, would be sorely missed there, the cultural site wrote on Twitter: “Geisch haut nöime angers chli der Aare na. Endo, you were important for Bern. And for our house.”

The writer Jürg Halter called Anaconda “one of my best friends” and published a joint picture showing the two artists in the old town of Bern.

There were also statements from the political side about the death of Anaconda. Federal Councilor Alain Berset shares his thoughts on Facebook. It wrote there:

«With Endo Anaconda, Switzerland loses a musician and poet of a special kind. His songs gripped us like natural phenomena, his song personnel from Moudi, the cat, to the «Hündeler» Hunkeler have long been part of Swiss cultural heritage. His powerful blues voice has often accompanied us “the Aare naa, her beautiful, beautiful, beautiful green Aare naa”. His lyrics were sometimes humorous, sometimes melancholic, always subtle. In 2017 Endo Anaconda was awarded the Swiss Music Prize. My sincere condolences go to his family and friends.”

The Federal Office of Culture also officially reported the death of Endo Anaconda, who shaped the Swiss music scene for a long time as a creative artist with his band “Stiller Has”. The office published a message on Twitter and wrote an obituary. In it they called Anaconda a “powerful poet and singer”.

But not only federal politicians, but also the Mayor of Bern, Alec von Graffenried, said goodbye – with a poem that he had published on social media:

«Aendo!!
No!!!
I can’t do that…
The Aendu dä isch furt
U never knows why
He would have so many songs in stock gha
I never umecho
Go Aendu go, go go…»
