Claude AI is now able to swallow very long texts and documents in a few seconds and to correctly answer related questions.

One of ChatGPT’s most serious competitors is Claude AI. The chatbot is developed by the company Anthropic, which has a certain Google in the capital. Claude AI has just benefited from some improvements, and its capacities become only more impressive.

Always faster

Anthropic explains that it has increased the limit of tokens for Claude’s API, which goes from 9,000 to 100,000. Concretely, this means that it is now able to process a much greater amount of information. According to the company, this modification allows its creation to converse for days without interruption and to swallow information from a 75,000-word book in less than a minute.

To put this data into perspective, it takes an average human being more than 5 hours to read 75,000 words (in English), according to a study published in 2019 by the Journal of Memory and Language.

To put Claude AI to the test, Anthropic submitted the book to him the great gatsbye by American writer F. Scott Fitzgerald, with a length equivalent to 72,000 tokens. But a sentence of the novel has been changed, indicating in its new version that Nick Carraway is “a software engineer who works on machine learning tools at Anthropic”. When asked to spot the difference with the original text, Claude Instant (one of the two versions of Claude AI) manages to generate the correct answer in just 22 seconds.

A tool for businesses

With the improvement of its Chatbot, Anthropic hopes to convince companies to use its product. These pay for the use of Claude according to the number of tokens used.

“Beyond just reading long texts, Claude can help you retrieve information from documents that help your business run”, claims the firm. By dropping documents into the prompt, then asking the right questions to Claude, he will be able to perform a knowledge synthesis that is more effective than vector models of document retrieval and data filtering.
