Real video but fake rape: the shameful gesture of a policeman who wanted to set fire to the powder

A misleading video to try to stir up hatred against migrants. In Spain, a police officer was sentenced by the Barcelona court on November 8, 2022, for having released fake rape video in 2019reports the Guardian. The Guardia Civil agent was sentenced to fifteen months in prison and a fine of €1,620. He won’t go behind bars though. because prison sentences of less than two years are not served by first-time offenders in Spain, specifies the British daily. He will still have to undergo training on human rights and the fight against discrimination. The police officer must also refrain from posting defamatory comments on social networks.

A Twitter account with racist and xenophobic content

In July 2019, he posted a video on his Twitter account which he said showed a young Moroccan migrant raping a woman in Canet de Mar, not far from Barcelona. Viewed nearly 21,000 timesThis video actually showed a woman being beaten and sexually assaulted in China. The policeman was trying to fuel a rumor that, a few days earlier, a local woman had been raped by two foreign minors living in a reception centre.

In court, the prosecutor said that the defendant’s Twitter profile was flooded with racist and xenophobic contentincluding artwork containing the fascist swastika symbol as well as a quote from white supremacist terrorist David Lane, who died in 2007. “Driven by his rejection of foreign immigrants of Moroccan origin, he posted a tweet and video showing an apparent rape committed by two minors with the aim of smearing them by generally associating them with violent acts and sexual assaults”the court said.
