Zack Snyder’s “Rebel Moon” is ending 2023 on Netflix with a bang. The first trailer offers big pictures, lots of action and a minimum of plot.

DC fans may still mourn the SnyderVerse that was never fully realized. Director Zack Snyder himself, on the other hand, is looking to the future and is looking forward to the release of his heart project “Rebel Moon”. With Netflix, Snyder has found a new home for his latest projects, “Army of the Dead” is to become an entire franchise, and there are also big plans for “Rebel Moon”.
The second part of “Rebel Moon” has already been confirmed, but only because Snyder’s planned film was too long for Netflix. Mein agreed to just share the story, so “Rebel Moon: Kindred of Fire” will be released on Netflix on December 22, 2023, “Rebel Moon: The Scar Maker” will follow on April 19, 2024.

The first trailer for “Rebel Moon” was presented at Gamescom 2023. The visually stunning excerpts evoke memories of “Star Wars”, “Dune” and “Foundation”, whereby the action naturally plays a central role in Snyder. Snyder himself was inspired by Akira Kurosawa’s films, such as The Seven Samurai.
Snyder wanted to shoot “Rebel Moon” back in 2012, when he presented the story to Lucasfilm as a possible “Star Wars” project. Now, the non-Star Wars-related films will be released on Netflix, with audiences choosing between a more violent and a family-friendly version of the film.
After the first two films, the story of “Rebel Moon” is not over yet, both Snyder and Netflix are very interested in a longer series. Ultimately, it’s the viewers who decide whether it really happens, because Netflix has become more economical and will only order an expensive science fiction sequel if the necessary interest is shown. Zack Snyder has already confirmed at least one video game that will continue the story of the two-part film.
