“Rebel Moon” is the great science fiction epic from star director Zack Snyder. Because his ambitious project reached such extreme proportions, an extra-long film became a two-parter. The first “Rebel Moon” film, subtitled “Child of Fire,” was released on Netflix in December 2023. Part two will be titled “The Scar Maker” and will come to the streamer in spring 2024.

Rebel Moon Part 2: Start

“Rebel Moon Part 1 – Child of Fire” started on Netflix on December 22, 2023. “Rebel Moon Part 2 – The Scar Maker” is scheduled to be released on April 19, 2024 appear on the streaming service and thus conclude the science fiction saga.

Rebel Moon Part 2: Trailer

The first teaser for the second “Rebel Moon” part shows how the individual parties prepared for the all-important final battle. Former enemies band together to eliminate a common target.

During “Next on Netflix 2024” further excerpts from the sequel to “Rebel Moon” were also shown.

Rebel Moon Part 2: Plot

At the end of “Part 1 – Child of Fire”, Kora and the rebels feel safe because they have finally defeated the threat. Mistake! Admiral Noble is no longer dead – if he ever really was – and in “Part 2 – The Scarmaker” he will be hunting the rebels again on behalf of Balisarius.

To be prepared for battle, the rebels train the residents of Veldt to fight and stand in the way of the threatening army. While the first film was about how Kora recruited the rebels for the fight, the big battle awaits us in part 2. A happy ending is likely, but Zack Synder’s franchise plans make an early death for Balisarius unlikely.

The Regent of the Mother World is to “Rebel Moon” what the Emperor was to “Star Wars” – the big villain. Admiral Noble can and will certainly come to an end in “Part 2 – The Scar Maker”, but an absolutely round conclusion cannot be expected on Netflix on April 19, 2024.

But we get to see more of Jimmy in “Rebel Moon 2,” as the first trailer shows. The robot, which was barely seen in the first film, surprised us at the end with a crown of antlers. So at least this mystery remains open, even if we already have a theory about the meaning of the crown.

Rebel Moon Part 2: Cast & Production

Not much is known about the cast of “Rebel Moon Part 2 – The Scar Maker” at the moment. We expect most of the cast from the first part to return.

The main role of the young warrior Kora is played by Sofia Boutella (“Kingsman: The Secret Service”). She is also joined by Djimon Hounsou (“Gran Turismo”) as General Titus, Charlie Hunnam (“Sons of Anarchy”) as spaceship pilot Kai, Michiel Huisman (“Game of Thrones”) as Gunnar and Ed Skrein (“Game of Thrones”). “Deadpool”) as Regent Balisarius in front of the camera. Oscar winner Anthony Hopkins (“The Silence of the Lambs”) provides the voice of Jimmy, a mechanized robot named JC1435.

The scripts for the “Rebel Moon” films come from filmmaker Zack Snyder. He also directed and produced his project. He received support for his project from Shay Hatten, Kurt Johnstad, Wesley Coller, Eric Newman and Deborah Snyder.

The end of an epic

With “Rebel Moon Part 2: The Scar Maker” Zack Snyder wants to end the start of his own science fiction saga. We hope that with the second part he finds a good ending to a film that progressed too quickly in part 1 and had too much content without resolving it. Part 1 fell short of expectations, perhaps part 2 will now be able to fulfill them.
