Actress Rebel Wilson, who recently gave birth to a baby via surrogate, has spoken out about her difficult journey to having a child.

Just a few days ago, Rebel Wilson, 42, surprised her fans with sweet baby news: Thanks to surrogacy, the actress became a mother for the first time together with her partner Ramona Agruma. She proudly announced the birth of her baby daughter, Royce Lillian, on Instagram. Now the Australian has revealed how difficult it was for her to have a child.

Rebel Wilson: The Difficult Road to Motherhood

She spoke to People about her role in her new film The Almond and the Seahorse. In the drama, she plays “Sarah,” who supports her husband after suffering a serious brain injury. About the character of the role she embodied, the 42-year-old said: “Sarah” “definitely wants a baby” and is therefore struggling with the decision to stay with her husband. Her desire to have a baby is “so strong”. This unfulfilled desire to have children in her film role was the parallel to her own life: During filming, Wilson pursued her own family planning with fertility treatments.

No viable embryos: “It was devastating”

“During filming, I received the terrible news that none of the eggs I had collected up to that point survived the thawing process,” the actress recalled of that grueling time. “So I had lost a lot of weight and had had three surgeries by then and no viable embryos. It was devastating.” Her feelings were reflected in her film role: “There were feelings of loss, feelings of hope – and all of that played into my performance. It was a very emotional time.” All the more Rebel Wilson can now look forward to her happiness as a mother.
