Red Dead Redemption: Take-Two explains the high price of the Switch and PS4 port

Never released on PC, Red Dead Redemption had become difficult to play, because only released on PS3 and Xbox 360 in 2010, only the backward compatibility of the versions Xbox allowing you to enjoy it without too much hassle. Almost a decade later, Rockstar Games just announced that it was going to make the experience more accessible, not with a full remaster or remake, but an optimized port for PS4 and Switch.

Even if the visual rendering seems correct and the extension Undead Nightmares is provided at no extra charge, players complain that this old game without much improvement and without multiplayer is sold at the full price of € 49.99. The president of Take-Two InteractiveStrauss Zelnick, was asked about this by IGN on the occasion of the company’s latest financial statement and explained that it was “exactly what [qu’ils croient] be the commercially correct price” for such a product. He also explains this high price by the presence of the extension Undead Nightmare :

[Red Dead Redemption] was a great standalone game in its own right when it was initially released, so we think it’s a great first-timer bundle, and certainly great value for consumers.

This will surely make fans cringe who would have preferred to take advantage of a lower launch price or more innovations, the remasters usually sold for this price usually offering much more technical innovations to justify going back to the checkout. . Still, if you want to legally play Red Dead Redemption on something other than a PS3 or a Xbox, you will have to put your hand in your wallet. It will be released on PS4 and Switch on August 17 digitally and October 13 physically. Red Dead Redemption 2 is it available from €15.99 on Amazon.co.uk.
