Reese Witherspoon’s son Deacon Phillippe has fledged and moved to New York. The 20-year-old is now causing a stir in his new home – and is being heavily criticized.
Deacon Phillippe, 20, made his acting debut last year in the third season of the hit Netflix series “Never in My Life,” but his greatest passion is music. The son of Reese Witherspoon47, and Ryan Phillippe, 49, who has been in the industry since he was 16, released his first album titled “A New Earth” in April 2023. Deacon is now studying music at New York University. He has now given an insight into his life in the metropolis on social media – and is encountering headwinds.

In New York, Deacon Phillippe meets TikToker Caleb Simpson, as a new video from the latter proves. The social media star approaches people on the street, asks them to view their apartment and asks about the rental price. Every now and then, Simpson also gets Hollywood stars in front of his lens. Scarlett Johansson, 38, and Jared Leto, 51, have already appeared on his TikTok or Instagram channels.
When he runs into Reese Witherspoon’s son in New York’s West Village, the influencer also wants to know from the 20-year-old how much he pays per month for his apartment. Deacon doesn’t answer this, but invites Simpson to accompany him to his apartment.

On site it appears that the apartment has a very large living room with high ceilings and an open kitchen, in the middle of which a spiral staircase leads to the second floor. After the influencer welcomes Deacon’s two roommates, they look around his bedroom. The music student not only has a large bed and a desk in his room, but of course also a keyboard and other instruments.
Although the 20-year-old appears rather reserved in the video, there is horror in the comments section. Many users don’t seem to approve of Deacon living in such a luxurious loft. “How much rent do you pay? The correct answer is: Ask my mother and father,” says one user. Others emphasize that Deacon Phillippe is not a “normal student”, after all, his parents are famous. “The life of a trust fund baby”, comments this fan, while the clip also reads: “He could afford the whole house if he wanted to!”
However, it’s not just criticism. Some fans are excited about Ryan Phillippe’s son. He is described as a “relaxed young man”. Some people also give him credit for having roommates. Deacon himself also commented on the post and addressed Caleb Simpson directly: “It was a pleasure to meet you!! Even though I was late to the lecture because of you.”
