Regulation is here – Europark expansion is getting closer

The Spar group has been fighting for the expansion of the Europark for more than ten years. Now things could go fast: the regulation for the expansion of the shopping center is ready. This must be signed by all seven members of the state government. Governor Wilfried Haslauer made the start.

An extension of 8,500 square meters. This is provided by the regulation that regulates the expansion of the Europark. The Spar group had to wait a long time, now it is actually available. Now it is the turn of politics: All seven members of the state government have to sign the ordinance. Governor Wilfried Haslauer (ÖVP) started by signing the paper on Monday. His deputy Christian Stöckl (ÖVP) will certainly do the same. He’s the next to be presented with the ordinance, but what is Green boss Heinrich Schellhorn doing? He had raged heavily against the expansion plans of the Spar group until the very end. “It is up to the governor to ensure a unanimous decision,” said Spar supervisory board chairman Gerhard Drexel of the “Krone” recently. Spar wants to create 300 new jobs The planned expansion of the shopping center on existing areas should bring 300 new jobs to Salzburg. Almost 30 million euros are to be invested in the future. Spar had applied for an extension of 14,000 square meters. The current regulation is a political compromise.
