Fertile ground if ever there was one for the world of JV, with Reigns: Three Kingdoms the myth of the Three Kingdoms is requested by the English from Nerial Studio, to be presented in a one-on-one strategic card game style. After many iterations: Reigns: Game of Thrones, Reigns: Her Majesty… Nerial thus continues his exploration of the world of deckbuilding with the well-established method of the range Reignsand this still under the aegis of Devolver Digital.
But where is John Woo?
Don’t be fooled by the apparent graphic economy of the title. Under the cover of hexagonal faces and looks made of pixel sticks, Reigns: Three Kingdoms offers a rich story, with multiple storylines that will reveal themselves depending on the alliances forged with legendary heroes, or the military negotiations that you have been able to carry out. The publisher also emphasizes a fairly large number of side quests. For fans of family simulations, it will be possible to get married and have children, without having to declare anything for taxes or dealing with the CAF.
In terms of combat system, the mechanics of the range Reigns remain intact, with a deck of cards to build according to the heroes at your disposal. Each hero has a predefined number of attack points and hit points. Head-to-head clashes are done via a rotation: each of your four characters will attack in turn, then your opponent’s team will do the same, until all of the enemy team’s HP drops to zero. For the arrival of the title on Nintendo Switch and PC, Reigns: Three Kingdoms will be enhanced with the possibility of playing online against human opponents.
