In a relationship, couples come up with the most unusual ideas. But according to the latest research, they not only share beds but also underwear. Really?!

"What is mine is also yours" is a romantic, kitschy saying that you usually hear when you spend the first time in the apartment of your loved one for a long time. That may apply to the contents of the refrigerator, to the shampoo and hoodie too – but for the underwear? Seriously? How in love do you have to be there please?

Every fourth couple shares their underwear

If you sit in front of the screen with a frown and think: "Huh? Why? It's quite normal!", This article is about you. Because then you belong to the 27 percent (!!!) of people who share their underwear in a relationship. This figure comes from the results of a study by the house cleaning service "End of Tenancy Cleaning London".

The group of respondents was not that small: almost 4,500 couples were asked about their hygiene rules. A few very common things came to light. 83 percent shared cutlery (of course!) And 81 percent shared lip balm (at best they are touching each other anyway). Well. But just as normal, more than a quarter of the respondents also found sharing their underwear.

How many bacteria does the relationship need?

Now we would normally write: It doesn't matter if you feel good. Love shows itself in the most bizarre ways and so on and immediately. But: This application of the other's underwear is not all that harmless. Because in the intimate area there are a lot of germs. They can be harmless to one person, but can cause infections in another.

Now the lipbalm argument may come up again. Don't we come into contact with all body germs anyway when we are in a relationship, at the latest when we sleep together? Yes. But there are condoms for that – and that's why we go to the bathroom after sex. Because we don't need the good old cystitis any more than any other infection.

So: if you really don't want to do without your partner's underwear, you should at least only wear it washed. Deal?
