relatives believe in “a bad meeting”

For three weeks, Marie-France and Richard have vanished after a family meal near Maubeuge. An investigation has been opened, but their relatives do not believe in a voluntary disappearance.

The investigation into the disappearance of Marie-France and Richard is at a standstill. On the evening of January 1, this couple, originally from the north of France, mysteriously vanished on his way home to Roubaix after a family meal in Mairieux. But, the two octogenarians never arrived at their destination.

After only a few kilometers traveled in their Citroën C3 car, Marie-France and Richard gave no sign of life. A last demarcation of their telephone in La Longueville was identified at 6:47 p.m. Since a wanted notice has been launched by the national police and an investigation is ongoing.

A non-voluntary disappearance

While the track of the accident has hitherto been favored by the investigators, for the relatives, however, it is not the only plausible option, which leans more on the hypothesis of thebad encounter. For the family, it is not a voluntary disappearance. Marie-France’s sister had also shared her opinion with BFM Greater Lille : “It’s hard to understand because they disappeared like that, all of a sudden, it’s a shock, we don’t understand, it’s really very difficult to understand.

Distraught and fearing that the investigation will not be closed, Tony and François, two brothers of Richard Di Gennaro decided, in collaboration with the police, to take part in the research. The two men then launched a call for evidence going up the Isère to put up posters. In total, Tony and François traveled 1000 kilometers and distributed 150 posters last week. “It’s not just handing out a paper: each time, we had real exchanges. We felt the people involved in our story. We were often told: “Marie-France and Richard, they could be my parents! “”, says François, to The voice of the North. For the two brothers, this call for witnesses “allows you to have eyes on the ground and multiply the chances anyone notice anything unusual, which could be a index”.

Since Marie-France and Richard disappeared, their house has remained in the same state as when they left it. Shocked by their disappearance, their neighbors mobilized to try to find them and to understand what could have happened that evening. Tony is also extremely grateful for the help provided by the neighborhood. “Without the help of the neighbors of Marie-France and Richard, we would never have been able to do this!”, he underlines.

For Michèle, the dean of the district, “Marie-France and Richard are pillars of the neighborhood”. Before saying:We don’t know each other intimately but we see each other every day! On the 31st, they informed me of their projects : in fine weather, they wanted to return to their house in Isère and make another trip to the Canary Islands.“According to Daniel, another neighbour, it was not their habit to leave their shutters open like this. “When they happened to leave for a few days, they warned us“, he assures. “Richard and Marie-France were always there, helpful and smiling”, also confides Marianne, their neighbor for four years. Since this disturbing disappearance, most of their neighbors are mobilizing and are ready to participate in a citizen search.

In the meantime, it is important that all persons being in possession of information that can help the police in their research contact the Roubaix police station at the following number: 03.20.81.34.40.
