Renault: towards a new generation of electric motors

(CercleFinance.com) – Renault presents E7A, a new generation electric motor, the result of a partnership initiated in 2021 with Valeo.

‘Each brought its key part (the rotor for Renault Group and the stator for Valeo) and its expertise in terms of technological development and production’, reports Le Losange, which adds that the development of the engine ‘is currently in progress. course.’

Renault specifies that the rotor technology used allows the engine to do without rare earths, thus reducing its carbon impact by 30%.

By favoring the wound rotor over permanent magnet electric motor technology, Renault offers better efficiency to its engine, secures its supply and also maintains its independence from countries producing rare earths and magnets.

Although the E7A is still in the development phase, its large-scale production is planned for the end of 2027 at the Renault Group’s Cléon plant.
