The official presentation of the Nothing Phone (2) is fast approaching. Carl Pei, the co-founder of the brand, recently said that the new smartphone will be released during the month of July. It will be a global launch and France is obviously concerned.
The famous leaker OnLeaks (in collaboration with the Smartprix site) has just published renderings of the mobile on its Twitter account. The opportunity to get a better idea of its appearance.
The Nothing Phone (2) once again sports a transparent design, which reveals part of its innards. We also note the presence of the light glyph system of the first model. The layout of the latter does not seem to have really changed. Two LEDs now surround the double photo sensor, instead of an almost complete arch. The rest is identical. Too bad, because we expected some additional novelties.
The device, however, seems thinner and opts for renderings for a more rounded design, which inevitably brings to mind the old iPhones, which Pei says he wants to compete with on the American market. This strategy has worked rather well so far, since the first version of the mobile sold 750,000 copies.
A more upscale technical sheet
The technical data sheet mentioned is still aimed at the mid-range segment. Pei confirmed that the set will be powered by a Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1. A strategic choice according to him, which allows to limit costs while offering more than enough power for almost all uses. The brand had already taken advantage of the very good Snapdragon 778G+. The AMOLED panel (Full HD +, 120 Hz) will go from 6.55 to 6.7 inches, which could change its grip.
Autonomy is expected to be provided by a 4700 mAh battery, which is 200 mAh more than the Nothing Phone (1). It will ship under Android 13 and will get three years of OS updates, but also four years of follow-up for security patches. It remains to specify the two on-board sensors, but above all the price. One would indeed be tempted to believe that the latter will follow global inflation, but the young brand has every interest in not raising the stakes too much.
