A brand new feature has just been added to Windows 11. Thanks to it, you should be able to reinstall or repair the operating system in two swings of the spoon.

Older Windows users certainly remember that at one time, for reinstall or repair Microsoft operating system, it was necessary to use the CD/DVD provided by the publisher or PC manufacturer. An impractical and not very user-friendly operation, since it was necessary to go to the BIOS, make the PC boot on the media in question rather than on the hard drive, then launch the reinstallation or reset of the system in an MS-DOS environment.

Over the years and with the disappearance of physical versions of Windows, Microsoft has made it possible to restore the OS directly from the system, or even from the Web. But most of the time, it remains essential to use the Media Creation Tool, to create a recovery/repair disk. It’s long and not always easy for those less experienced with Windows. Good news: one of the next new features of Windows 11 will considerably change the situation on this subject.

Windows 11 can be repaired using Windows Update, no more hassle!

In the latest edition of Windows 11 and via the Beta Channel, a new option appears. By heading into the functions Settings > System > Recoverywe see that it is now possible to repair or reset your PC directly from Windows Update.

From then on, there is no need to create a DVD or USB key containing what is necessary for installing or repairing the system. Everything can be done via Windows Update, which is responsible for downloading the essential files to this type of operation. Enough to save you considerable time and reduce the number of operations required. Microsoft also explains that this procedure will not delete your documents or your installed applications, and even less your settings.

As a reminder, simply register for the Windows Insiders program, accessible free of charge to all users of the OS. If not, this function should be available by February/March 2024to mark the release of Moment 5 for Windows 11.
