Apple is expanding its autonomous repair program by adding its most recent devices, and above all by making available to individuals a tool previously reserved for professionals.

The Cupertino company goes further by first announcing theextension of the program to new devices. All iPhone 15s join it, as well as Mac integrating an M2 chip. This also includes the MacBook Pro 14 and 16 inchesTHE 15-inch MacBook AirTHE Mac mini and the Mac Studio. But the real novelty is elsewhere.

For the first time, individuals will be able to use the diagnostic software used in Apple stores and approved centers. “Aimed at users with the knowledge and expertise to repair Apple devices, Apple Diagnostics troubleshooting sessions will provide customers with the same ability as Apple Authorized Service Providers and independent repairers to test devices […]as well as to identify parts that may need repair.”
Apple is technically talking about a “new tool,” but we assume it’s just a matter of renaming the one available for professionals. Although no concrete details are given, it is assumed that it will also be a platform accessible on a web browser. As with the repair program itself, we will have to wait. The diagnostic service will first be available in the United States, with a launch in Europe “next year”.
