Requesting a new registration card becomes really easy with this new application

In testing since 2021 in a few regions, the French government has just launched the Simplimmat application nationwide. Completely free and secure, this app simplifies and above all dematerializes all administrative procedures relating to the purchase/use of used cars.

After the launch of Agora, the government’s “forum” application developed to ask questions to ministers, the French executive announces the arrival of a new official application: Simplimmat. Behind this somewhat strange name hides an app that will greatly facilitate administrative procedures relating to the purchase/sale of used cars.

In a few words, Simplimmat allows you to declare the transfer or register a used vehicle to his name in just a few minutes, so completely dematerialized. In fact, there is no longer any need for a paper form. The administrative cessation of the vehicle and the request for a new registration document are carried out at the same time as the handing over of the keys.

Having your registration card has never been so simple and quick

Furthermore and as specified by the government, the transfer of responsibility for the vehicle is immediate and the buyer can immediately request their new registration card via the app. He will then receive it at his home 3 to 4 business days later. Be careful however, to benefit from the advantages of Simplimmat, it will obviously be necessary for the buyer and the seller to be physically present, “in a location covered by 4G, to have the vehicle’s registration document, and for each person their smartphone with the downloaded application”.

According to the Ministry of the Interior, Simplimmat also allows to avoid certain problematic situations. We are thinking in particular of the case where the seller forgets to declare the transfer of the vehicle on the ANTS website (editor’s note: the National Agency for Secure Titles), which can result in blocking the buyer’s registration in his name.

Previously, the seller had to complete and sign a paper Cerfa transfer certification form with the buyer, before then registering his declaration of transfer on the ANTS website. This is no longer the case, the process being automated via Simplimmat. In addition, the application also allows you to guarantee the conformity of the vehicle. In fact, the app is responsible for checking the administrative situation of the vehicle. Thus, if it has been stolen and if it is pledged, the transfer is automatically blocked. Enough to avoid terrible surprises for the buyer.
